Diminution of Value

Diminution of value refers to the loss in value of a car or other vehicle involved in a road accident.

If you are making a road accident claim for injury compensation, you can also claim compensation for the cost of repairs to your vehicle as part of the special damages part of the payout.

However, it may also be possible to claim compensation for the diminution of value of the vehicle, in addition to the repairs themselves. This is because vehicles that have undergone repairs following an accident have a generally lower resale value than a vehicle of the same model and age that has not been involved in an accident.

If your car was involved in a road accident that was not your fault, and the vehicle lost value as a result, we may be able to assist with a diminution of value claim. Call us on 0800 612 7456 for more information.
