£80,000 awarded following a road collision with a lorry | Case Study

Rakhi Chauhan, a specialist in complex injury claims, acted for the family of a man killed in a fatal road accident.

A dependency claim was brought by a child of the victim. The claimant’s father was proceeding along a country road when an oncoming lorry veered into his lane of traffic.

The claimant’s vehicle was forced onto an embankment colliding head-on with a tree. The driver was died at the scene of the accident.

Criminal negligence

The driver of the other vehicle was found to have fallen asleep whilst driving. Following a criminal trial, the driver was imprisoned for a period of 8 months.

The final settlement was approved by a District Judge in the sum of £80,000.
